Define the Model

Define your model by adding a platform and an antenna to the 3D area of your antenna placement simulation. A platform is the product assembly on which you install an antenna. An antenna is the CST antenna project that you saved to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

You previously imported the aircraft to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, so it appears in the 3D area by default; however, you now add the aircraft to the simulation as the platform. Then, you add the VHF blade antenna to the simulation.

This task shows you how to:

Add a Platform

  1. From the Platform section of the Assistant, click Platform .
  2. Select the search field in the top bar, and select My Content.
    The 3DSearch app opens.
  3. Search for EXAMPLE-Aircraft, and select the product assembly you previously imported to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
The 3DSearch app closes. The aircraft, along with its three axis systems, remains in the 3D area.

Add an Antenna

  1. From the Antenna section of the Assistant, click Antenna .
  2. Click the Antenna dialog box.
3DSearch opens, prompting you for search criteria.
  3. Search for EXAMPLE-VHF Blade, and select the antenna you previously saved to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
The 3DSearch app closes. The antenna appears at the global origin of the 3D area.

When you expand the Model > Aircraft Antenna Coverage A.1 > EXAMPLE-VHF Blade A.1 section of the tree and search through the antenna's geometry, you find a predefined axis system aligned with the anchor points of the antenna. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform creates this axis system when you save the CST antenna project to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
