Create a Static Step

Create a static step with an initial and maximum time incrementation of 0.1s. Selecting the unsymmetric matrix storage and solution scheme improves the convergence history in this contact problem. During a later step, you will examine the effect using smaller time increments.

  1. Open the Scenario view, and create a static step with the following settings:

    • An initial time increment of 0.1s
    • A minimum time increment of 1e-5s
    • A maximum time increment of 0.1s
    • A total time of 1.0s

  2. Allow for geometric nonlinearity, and select the unsymmetric matrix storage and solution scheme.
  3. From the Feature Manager, assign linear brick C3D8R elements globally.
