Apply the Restraints and Loads

Apply restraints to limit the degrees of freedom, and use an applied translation to specify the distance the arrowhead is inserted into the wall.

  1. Use a clamp to restrain the wall in all six degrees of freedom, so that it remains stationary when the arrowhead is inserted.

    Select the three narrow faces of the wall as the support for the clamp, as shown below:

  2. Use a fixed displacement restraint to restrain the arrowhead in the y- and z-directions.

    Select the four narrow faces of the arrowhead as the support for the restraint, as shown below:

  3. Use an applied translation to move the arrowhead 7 mm along the x-axis.

    Select the distributed coupling as the support for the translation.
