Run the Simulation

Run the simulation of both the global and submodel analysis cases.

Before you run a simulation, it is important to verify that the model and scenario include the minimum required information to perform a simulation. When you simulate, the app applies all of the loads, restraints, and interactions to the model to solve the simulation.

  1. From the Simulate section of the action bar, click Simulate .
  2. Select Local interactive execution, and accept the other default selections.
  3. Click OK.

During the simulation, think about how your submodel analysis case reduced the solve time required to generate the results that matter to you.

The app detects the relationship between the analysis case types automatically, such that the global analysis case runs before the submodel analysis case; the app cannot run these analysis cases concurrently.
  4. Review any warnings that the simulation generates.
Each analysis case has over 60 warnings. Most warnings are about tolerance calculations for contact interactions, because you did not enter a tolerance when you created the interactions. However, the default tolerance is suitable for this example.

Contact can be a complex and error-prone area in simulations. In practice, verify that you have not accidentally specified contact between surfaces that are not intended to be in contact. Also, verify that you included all surfaces that are required to be in contact with each other.
