Review the Material Properties

Review the material properties related to durability.

A durability analysis requires that you define several material properties before running a successful simulation. In this example, you review the material properties of the model's steel material definition to ensure you have the information required for a simulation.

  1. From the standard area of the action bar, click Scenario .
The assembly opens in Mechanical Scenario Creation.
  2. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Edit Simulation Domain .
    The pointer changes to .
  3. From the tree, select the material by clicking the solid section under the Properties container of the FEM.
The Material Definition dialog box opens.
  4. From the Behavior options, select With Plasticity (Default), and click Switch to List View .
The defined material properties display at the top of the list.
  5. Verify that the following material properties, which a durability analysis requires, are defined:

    • Proof (Yield) Stress
    • Ultimate Strength
    • FKM Material
    • Elongation
