Create the Output Requests

Create an output request for the displacements and stresses.

You request output of selected variables from specified regions of your model during the simulation. You use a field output request to generate relatively infrequent output for a large portion of the model. Field output generates deformed shape plots, contour plots, and animations.

In contrast, you use history output requests to generate data from a variable saved at a high frequency from a small portion of the model; for example, the displacement of a single node. You can use history output to generate X–Y plots from your analysis results. When you create a history output request, you must select the individual components of the variable.

In this example, you create a field output request of displacement in the preloading case, as well as displacement and stresses in the loading case.

  1. From the context selector, select the preloading frequency step.
  2. From the Simulate section of the action bar, click Output .
Structural Scenario Creation generates default field output requests, such as displacement and stress, when you create a step and configure the simulation.
  3. Expand the Displacement/Velocity/Acceleration options, and select U, Translations and rotations.
  4. Expand the Stresses options, and select S, Stress components.
  5. Click OK.
  6. From the context selector, select the static loading step.
  7. Request displacement and stress output.
  8. From the context selector, select the postloading frequency step.
  9. Request displacement and stress output.
