Define the Static Step

Define the static step properties of the structural analysis case.

In this example, you decrease the initial time increment of the analysis to improve the convergence rate. You also include the effects of geometric nonlinearity in the analysis.

  1. From the Procedures section of the action bar, click Edit Current Step .
  2. In the Static Step dialog box, do the following:
    1. Enter 0.005 as the Initial time increment.
    2. Enter 0.01 as the Maximum time increment.
    3. Expand the Advanced section, and select Include geometric nonlinearity to consider geometric nonlinearity in the analysis.
    4. Accept the default parameters for the remaining items in the dialog box, and click OK.
