Using Background Derived Output Generation

On check in, you can create derived output as a background job.

Before you begin: Set the Preferences in X-CAD Design Management for Background for all derived output types that you need to create as a background job.

Context: This task is also useful for testing the setup for background derived output generation. Using background generation of derived output speeds up the check in of an large assemblies because the check in runs separately from the creation of the derived output.

  1. Check in the component, assembly, or drawing.
When the check in completes, Connector for SOLIDWORKS and X-CAD Design Management continue to list them as checked out.
  2. To see if the background output generation job is created:
    1. Log into X-CAD Design Management and navigate to Background Job.
    2. From the Background Jobs dialog box, check the listing for the BackgroundDerivedOutput.
  3. Periodically, check either Connector for SOLIDWORKS or X-CAD Design Management to see if the files in your check in are still listed as Checked Out.

When the background derived output generation completes, the files are no longer listed as Checked Out.

  4. To obtain a copy of the derived output, log into X-CAD Design Management through the web client and download the output file.
