About Baselines

You use baselines to capture a design or design structure to be used as a benchmark before you make more changes to the design. Using Connector for SOLIDWORKS, you can capture the structure of a design that is active in SOLIDWORKS and exists on the 3DEXPERIENCE server. You can open the baselined file at any stage of the design in SOLIDWORKS from the Get dialog box or the History dialog box.

When you apply the Baseline command to a design that is open in SOLIDWORKS, the baseline is created for the as built structure of the design on the 3DEXPERIENCE server. For example, if you create a baseline for a design you are editing in SOLIDWORKS, the baseline does not capture any modifications you have made because they do not exist on the 3DEXPERIENCE server. The baseline is created for the stored design on the 3DEXPERIENCE server.
