SOLIDWORKS Template Dialog Box

When you create a model by selecting a SOLIDWORKS template that is stored in 3DEXPERIENCE, depending on the template you choose, a part, assembly, or drawing template dialog box appears.

This page discusses:

File Information

The top of the dialog box lets you specify the following file information:

File name The default file name depends on how your organization generates file names:
  • If you use auto-number generation for the selected file type, the name is a new auto-generated name.
  • If you do not use auto-number generation, the default name is the name of the template source file.

You can modify the file name.

Location The default location is determined as follows:
  • The folder specified in the template if there is one.
  • The default folder where files are saved from SOLIDWORKS if a default folder is specified in your settings.
  • The folder where you last saved a SOLIDWORKS file if that folder is inside the 3DEXPERIENCE database where the template is stored.
  • The My Work folder of the 3DEXPERIENCE view to which the template belongs.

You can modify the location.

Object type Not available:
  • If only one object type is mapped to the CAD type (part, assembly, or drawing) for which the template was created.
  • If the property Object Type is set in the file and contains a valid object name that has been mapped to the CAD type.

By default, the Object type is the first object type in the GCO mapping.

You must select an object type to see the data card associated with the template.

Data Card

This section contains the data card associated with the template. You can modify the card now or by editing the details in the document using SOLIDWORKS or Windows Explorer.
