Promoting Objects

You can promote objects such as assemblies, parts, and drawings from within SOLIDWORKS, from Windows Explorer, and using the Web UI. Promote is blocked for files that are checked-out.

Before you begin:
  • You must have promote authority.
  • The design object must meet the lifecycle requirements.
  • You must be assigned the integration for that object type.
  1. Do one of the following:
    • In SOLIDWORKS, open the design object you want to promote, then click 3DEXPERIENCE > Promote.

      Alternatively, from the CommandManager 3DEXPERIENCE tab or from the right-click menu in the 3DEXPERIENCE task pane, click Promote.

    • In Windows Explorer, right-click the object to promote and click Promote.
    • In the Web UI, from the Summary page of the object, click Action > Promote.

      Alternatively, from the Lifecycle page of the object, click Action > Promote.

  2. In the Promote dialog box, click Promote. Or using the Web UI, select files in Promote dialog box and click Submit.

The system promotes the object to the next state. If the promotion fails, the system displays a Change State failed dialog box. To see the reason for the failure, click More detail.
