Creating SOLIDWORKS Design Templates

You create SOLIDWORKS design templates from the Web Client (X-CAD Design Management).


Before you begin:
  • The Connector for SOLIDWORKS server must be configured to support SOLIDWORKS templates .
  • Your user profile must include the Leader role.
  1. In the SOLIDWORKS CommandManager or Windows Explorer menu bar, click to open the Web Client.
  2. Log in as a user with the Leader role.
  3. From the top bar, select X-CAD Design > Start Design Templates.
  4. In the Integration Chooser dialog box, select SolidWorks and click Submit.
  5. In the Start Design Templates dialog box, select one of the following tabs:
    • componentFamily
    • drawing
    • assemblyFamily
  6. Click Create Design Template.
  7. In the Create Design Template dialog box:
    1. Specify the template name.
    2. For Instance Name, type an instance name or select Auto Name and select an Autoname Series.

      If you select Auto Name and do not select an Autoname Series, you receive an error message when you click Submit.

    3. For Template File, click Browse to open the Choose File to Upload dialog box, where you can navigate to a file to use as the basis of the template.
    4. Click Submit.

The newly created template is added to the tab you selected in step 5.

Note:
  • To see the templates in the Connector for SOLIDWORKS user interface, log out and log back in again.
  • Restart the SOLIDWORKS and login again to view the template created at web side.
