Connecting to 3DEXPERIENCE

To manage SOLIDWORKS files in Connector for SOLIDWORKS, you log in to 3DEXPERIENCE. You can log in from within the SOLIDWORKS application or from Windows Explorer.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Ensure you know:
  • Your username and password.
  • The credential for your login. The credential includes your role, organization, and collaborative space.

Connect from SOLIDWORKS

When you open or save a file in SOLIDWORKS to the server, you are prompted to log in to 3DEXPERIENCE if you are not already logged in.

  1. In SOLIDWORKS, do one of the following:
    • Click File > Save As.
    • Click File > Open.
    • From the SOLIDWORKS menu bar, click 3DEXPERIENCE > Options.
  2. In the Login to 3DEXPERIENCE Platform dialog box, enter your User name and Password and click Login.
  3. In the Select Credentials dialog box:
    1. Select your Organization.
    1. Select your Collaborative space.
    2. Select your business Role.
    3. Select from Country, the country name for the language needed for your use of the app.

      Note: The Country option is only available when you first log into 3DEXPERIENCE and when your administrator has installed both:
      • ENOVIAIPControlledAccessFoundation
      • ENOVIAIPProtectionClassificationFoundation

    4. Click OK.

You are logged in to 3DEXPERIENCE.

The notification area at the far right of the task bar displays the 3DEXPERIENCE icon when you are connected. The 3DEXPERIENCE icon also appears on the 3DEXPERIENCE tab of the task pane.

When you open a document from within SOLIDWORKS, the 3DEXPERIENCE menu and CommandManager are available.

Connect from Windows Explorer

When you do not have SOLIDWORKS running, you can log in to the server from Windows Explorer.

  1. Start Windows Explorer and navigate to 3DEXPERIENCE .
  2. Double-click 3DEXPERIENCE .
  3. In the Login to 3DEXPERIENCE Platform dialog box, enter your User name and Password and click Login.
  4. In the Select Credentials dialog box:
    1. Click OK.
    2. Select your Organization.
    1. Select your Collaborative space.
    2. Select your business Role.
    3. Select from Country, the country name for the language needed for your use of the app.

      Note: The Country option is only available when you first log into 3DEXPERIENCE and when your administrator has installed both:
      • ENOVIAIPControlledAccessFoundation
      • ENOVIAIPProtectionClassificationFoundation

    4. Click Login.

The system displays the Explorer view of Connector for SOLIDWORKS. The icon appears in the notification area at the far right of the taskbar.
