Prerequisite for Customizing the SmarTeam Server Connector

This document describes what you need to do before customizing the SmarTeam server connector.

Before you begin: The CATIA position matrix can be stored in the SmarTeam database starting with V5R18SP2 (on both the CATIA and SmarTeam levels). Data stored before the migration will not contain position matrix information for explore. The only way to retrieve it is to update the data. To do so, your administrator must:
  • enable the storing of CATIA position matrix by:
    • setting an environment variable in the CATIA environment
    • modifying a SmarTeam setting using the SmarTeam System Configuration utility.
  • run the Data Model Designer (DMD) Wizard on the current database in order to migrate it on the V5R18SP2 level.
  1. To set up a CATIA environment:
    1. In the New User Variable dialog box, set the CAI_SAVE_INSTANCES variable to TRUE. You can specify the status for this CATIA environment variable using the CATIA Environment Editor V5R18.
  2. SmarTeam Settings: The steps below explain how to store the position matrix in SmarTeam.
    1. Launch the SmarTeam System Configuration Editor. To know how to use this tool, see the SmarTeam documentation.
    2. Search for CATIA application.
    3. Set the CATIA.SaveInstanceData to TRUE.
    4. Click Save Changes to confirm the changes.
