Common Import Behavior
This section describes the behavior of CATIA V5 data stored in legacy databases imported into 3DEXPERIENCE that is common to all connectors.
V5 Data Type | 3DEXPERIENCE Content Type | Import Result |
---|---|---|
7 Generative Sheet Metal Design features | Sheet Metal Design features | 7 Fully imported |
7 Sheet Metal Design features | Sheet Metal Design features | 7 Partially imported |
7 Sheet Metal Production features | Sheet Metal Design features | 7 Partially imported |
Considerations
You should take the following considerations into account:
As features created in V5 Sheet Metal Design and Sheet Metal Production apps are no longer supported on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, you need to modify these features before opening them on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
You can choose between two import methods, an automatic or a manual method, depending on the options set in Installation and Administration: 3DEXPERIENCE platform: 3DEXPERIENCE platform - Administration: Native Apps Preferences Guide: General: File-based Design Import: Sheet Metal.
This section explains the manual method.
Manual Import
You can perform a controlled import of deprecated features.
- In > , select the Launch FDBI Error option.
- Copy the PartBody.
- In a new CATPart, select the Paste Special contextual command.
- In the dialog box that appears, select the As Result option.
Features are replaced by solid features and pasted in the new CATPart.
- Start the import.
Solid features are imported on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform as datum features.
Note: If the CATPart still contains V5 Sheetmetal Design features, an error message appears and the import fails.Tip: You can use the Recognize command to recompute the folded geometry, either in V5 before importing again or in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform once the import is successful.
