Sheet Metal Parameters Design Tables

This topic provides information about the Sheet Metal parameters design tables.

All parameters hereafter, or only some of them, can be defined in this design table:

In all cases, the thickness parameter must be defined in the design table so that other parameters are also taken into account.
Important:
  • In Sheet Metal for Hydro-formed Parts, whenever both Radius Table and Default Bend Radius are defined in the design table, only the Radius Table is taken into account for the bend creation.
  • In Sheet Metal Design, Radius Table is not supported. Therefore, you must define Default Bend Radius to create the bend.
  • Whenever Minimum Bend Radius is defined in a design table, the corresponding minimum bend radius appears in the Sheet Metal Parameters dialog box but it cannot be edited. This parameter is useful to build business rules with the Knowledge Expert Check app.

When a parameter refers to a path, another sub-design table will be associated to the corresponding feature.

Examples of a Bend Allowance Standard File

This is an example of a table used to define a bend allowance.

Main Sheet Metal Parameters Design Table

A bend table is associated to the default bend radius. Each bend radius is linked by a formula to the default bend radius.

If a bend table is defined, the bend allowance (for a given angle) is taken into account when the bend is created. Otherwise, the default K factor is used.

Bend tables are used for:

  • For a single radius table, the default radius bend. In the case of a non-standard bend, the K factor is used. Here, you will need to manually modify the local K factor if you want the required allowance to be taken into account.
  • The Bend and Bend from Flat features:. Other features use the K factor for flat length computation.

According to the open angle, the bend deduction will be read in the Deduction column or interpolated if necessary.

Important: The deduction value is computed for all angles when there is only one deduction value in the Bend Allowance Table.

Whenever a hole is created, a design table will associate its radius with a standard name.
