Mirroring

You can mirror a feature or a representation.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Create a 3D shape and a cutout. Make sure the feature to mirror lies on a unique and planar wall.

Mirror a Feature

You can mirror a hole, a cutout, a flange, a stamp (except stiffening ribs), a pattern or another mirror.

  1. From the Transform section of the action bar, click Mirror .
  2. Select the element to mirror.
  3. Select the plane.
The selected plane and a preview of the cutout to be mirrored appear.

    : element to mirror

  4. Click OK.

    Warning:
    • If you create a mirror of a flange, the result of the mirror must lie on an edge.
    • If you create a mirror of a stamp impacting several supports, you can no longer design any other feature on it.

Mirror a 3D Shape

You can mirror a 3D shape.

  1. From the Transform section of the action bar, click Mirror .
  2. Right-click the Plane box and select Insert Wireframe > Create Plane.

You can also define a lateral face of a the 3D shape as the symmetry plane of the body.

  3. Create a plane.

  4. Click OK.

Define Tear Faces

You can define tear faces when the mirroring process implies a connection of the result.

  1. From the Mirror Definition dialog box, select the plane.
  2. In the Contact faces box, select a face as the tear face.

Note: Tear faces define the opening faces: the way of unfolding the representation depends on their selection.
