Creating User-Defined Patterns

You can duplicate a feature or a current solid as many times as you want by specifying anchor points.

You can duplicate flanges, cutouts, holes, mirrors, beads, stamps (except stiffening ribs), stamps without fillet and patterns.

Before you begin:
  • Create a wall, a wall on edge and a cutout on the wall on edge. Create a sketch containing points.
  • Ensure that these features lie on a unique and planar wall.
  1. Select the cutout to duplicate.
Note: To pattern a current solid, right-click the Object to pattern box and select Get current solid.

  2. From the Transform section of the action bar, click User Pattern .
  3. In the Position box, select the sketch.

Important: By default, each instance is positioned with respect to the center of gravity of the element to be duplicated. To change this position, click the Anchor box and select another vertex or a point.
  4. Optional: To remove instances, click the corresponding points.

  5. Click OK.
Cutouts are created at the points of the sketch.

  6. From the fixed area of the action bar, click Fold/Unfold .
The pattern is updated in the unfolded view.
