Covering a Part

You can cover a part such as a floor and apply material to it.


Before you begin: Create a product structure. See Creating a Product Structure for Steel Outfitting Design.
  1. Create the Covering node in the tree under the Steel Outfitting Design node:
    1. Right-click the Steel Outfitting Design node in the tree and select Insert > Extended Product.
    2. In the New Content dialog box, select Types > Steel Outfitting > Covering Part .
    3. In the Covering Part dialog box, specify the title of the root product (for example Covering) and the design range, and click OK.

      Important: The Steel Outfitting Design app supports normal and large ranges only.

  2. Double-click the 3D Shape node in the tree (available under the Covering node) to activate it.
  3. From the Compass, click Part Design Essentials.
  4. Draw the shape of a covering in the form of 2D profile.

  5. Create a cover by applying thickness to the 2D profile.
