Setting up the Environment

You can set up the environment for Steel Outfitting Design app by importing the XML and 3DXML documents to the database. You need to assign the visu dynamic assistant resource in the Data Setup and customize preferences.

Import the XML Documents

You can import the default and customized XML files to the database, and make them available for use.

  1. In the top bar, select Add > Content.
  2. In the New Content panel, select Types > Document > VPM Document.
  3. Browse to the location where the default (for example VisuAssistant_Dynamic.xml) and the customized xml files are kept.
  4. Select the required file and click Save.
  5. Click OK in the VPM Document dialog box.
    The selected XML files are imported.

Import the 3DXML Files

You can import the default and customized 3DXML files to the database, and make them available for use.

  1. In the top bar, select Add > Import > 3DXML.
  2. In the Import 3D XML dialog box, click [...] to choose a folder.
  3. Select the required path and click Select Folder.
    The Import 3D XML dialog box displays the 3DXML files in the selected folder.
  4. Select the required 3DXML files and click OK.

    In our scenario, the following default 3DXML files are selected:

    • Structure_Materials.3dxml
    • Structure_Sections.3dxml
    • Structure_Contours.3dxml

    The selected 3DXML files are imported.
    Note: While executing a scenario, you can select these files using a search. There is no need to set the structure resources.
