About Adding Attributes to XCAD Design Management Content Types

X-CAD Design Management includes these content types:

  • MCAD Drawing
  • MCAD Assembly
  • MCAD Component
  • MCAD Representation

These generic types encompass a family of other concrete types that are hidden for usability reasons. When you add an attribute to one of the generic types, the app also adds the attribute to the entire family of content types, and all web forms and tables for those content types.

You can define an attribute (with the same name, data type, and other values) for more than one of these families. However, because you define them within the context of a specific content type, each attribute is unique to that type. You cannot create one attribute and then apply it to more than one content type.
