Allow Write Access Only to the Author Who Owns the Content

This access rule determines if only the Author/Author (Restricted) of Definition content has write access to the content when it is in the IN_WORK state. This access rule is deactivated by default. To restrict write access, you must activate this rule. This access is called strict ownership.

The Owner attribute for the content defines the specific user that owns the content, in addition to the organization and collaborative space of the active credentials when the content was created.

When you activate this access rule, only the owner of the content can modify the content. For example, only the owner (the person defined in the Owner attribute) can execute these operations:

  • Lock content.
  • Modify content, for example modifying an attribute, the stream content (3D or 2D), or adding/removing a relationship pointing to other content such as instances, publications, engineering constraints.

Note: This rule does not apply to modifying instances (attribute or position).

The Leader/Leader (Restricted) role overrides this access rule. If this access rule is activated and the Leader/Leader (Restricted) is not the responsible owner of the content, the Leader/Leader (Restricted) can execute these operations:

  • Lock content
  • Modify content

The import, clone, and revise operations change ownership to the person who executes the operation. When this access rule is activated, you might need to transfer ownership to the required Author/Author (Restricted) to allow design work on the imported, cloned, or revised content.
