Exporting and Importing Configurations

Administrator users can export configurations to an XML file, or import configurations from an XML file.

The export/import tools let you define the extensions on one server, then export the extensions to an XML file. You can then import that XML file to other servers.

Warning: Only import configurations before inviting users to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, and before any content is created. For more information, see Process for Importing Configurations.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:
  1. Open the Collaborative Spaces Configuration Center widget. For more information, see Widgets to Configure Content and Business Rules.
  2. In the menu in the left pane, click Configuration Deployment.

Exporting Configurations

  1. If your system includes more than one platform, select the required platform from the list.
  2. Click Export.

The app downloads an XML file that conforms to the DTD described in About Exporting Configuration Settings.

Importing Configurations

  1. If your system includes more than one platform, select the required platform from the list.
  2. Click Browse.
  3. Locate and select a file that conforms to the DTD described in About Exporting Configuration Settings. This file was likely created by previously exporting configurations.
  4. From Import, click one of these commands:

    Command Description
    Import Imports the configuration but does not apply it. You can review and tune the configuration settings before applying them.
    Import and Apply Imports and applies all configuration settings.

    For on-premises installations:

    • If you did not install X-CAD Design Management, when you deploy the configuration (version naming), an error message displays that you can ignore. To avoid this error message, install X-CAD Design Management after Multi-Discipline Collaboration Platform.
    • If you run several servers in a multi-MCS context, and if you configure lifecycles and attributes, the properties files modified by the configuration must be copied to each MCS, then you must redeploy on each server.
  5. If you used Import and have made all required adjustments, click Apply.
