Adding Extensions to Space References

You can add customer extensions to space references.

This task shows you how to:

Add Extensions Using the Spreadsheet Command

You can add extensions to space references using the Spreadsheet command.

  1. From the Product Edition section of the action bar, click Spreadsheet .
    The Spreadsheet Editor panel appears in a new tab. The root product with its children nodes appears in the spreadsheet editor.
  2. Using the navigation bar, navigate to the required space concept root.
    The space concept root along with all space references appear in the spreadsheet.
  3. Under the Extension column, click on the required space reference row.
  4. Select a customer extension from the list and click Add Extension .
    • The selected extension is assigned to the space reference. You can assign multiple extensions to a space reference. Under Extensions area, you can see the extensions assigned to the space reference.
    • If some attributes are defined in the "Create" mask of the extension, columns are added in the spreadsheet for displaying these attributes. You can click the required attribute and modify its value.
  5. Optional: To remove an extension, click Remove Extension .
  6. Press Esc to validate the modifications.

Add Extensions Using the Customer Extension Manager Command

You can add extensions to space references using the Customer Extension Manager command.

  1. From the Compass, click Collaborative Lifecycle.
  2. From the Lifecycle section of the action bar, click Customer Extension .
  3. Select a space reference node in the tree.
    The Customer Extension dialog box appears.
  4. Select the Switch to Reference check box.

    This check box is used to display the list of available extensions in case you have selected an instance.

  5. Select an extension from the Available Extensions list, and then click Add Extension.
    If some attributes are defined in the "Create" mask of the extension, the Attributes dialog box appears letting you set the attributes values.
  6. Modify the attributes as required and click OK in the Attributes dialog box.
    The selected extension with its attributes is displayed under Existing Customer Extensions.
    • You can click available next to the extension, to restore the values of all attributes to default. It is also possible to restore the values of individual attributes by clicking available next to each attribute.
    • You can click to remove the extension.
  7. Click OK.
    The selected extension is added to the space reference.
    Note: You can add several extensions to a type provided that they do not have the same father.

Copy Extensions

You can copy and paste extensions.

  1. From the Operations section of the action bar, click Copy Customer Extension .
    The Copy Customer Extension dialog box appears.
  2. In the Source box, select a space reference whose extension you want to copy.
    Note: If you select a space reference before clicking the command, the space reference is preselected in the Source box.
  3. In the Destinations box, select a space reference to which you want to assign the extension.
    You can select multiple destination space references.
  4. Select the extension type: Instance or Reference.
  5. Click Copy.
    The extension of the selected extension type and its attributes are copied to the destination space reference.

Rename Space Instances

You can rename the space instances with more specific names.

Do any of the following:
  • Right-click a space reference node in the tree and select Properties.

    In the Properties dialog box, rename the instance.

  • Right-click the reference node and select Attributes.

    In the Attributes panel, click and then rename the instance.

  • In the Spreadsheet, under the Instance Title column, click on the required space reference row and rename the instance.

Set Colors to Spaces References

You can set different colors to space references depending on their extensions.

The business rule assigns a color according to an extension assigned on the reference of the space reference.

Before you begin: Set the Space Coloring business rule in Data Setup. See Space Coloring.
From the Operations section of the action bar, click Space Coloring .
Colors are set to all space references in the session.
Tip: If you want to assign a color to a specific space reference only, right-click the space reference node in the tree and select Space Coloring.
