Generating a Report of Space Objects

You can define a report template for the space objects and generate a report.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin:

Open the space system containing a molded part and space cells.

Define a Report Template

You can define report templates to get the values of properties of objects in an HTML or XML format.

  1. From the Compass, click Quality Rules Reuse.
  2. Click Create Report Template .
    The Report Template Definition dialog box appears.
  3. In the Report Name box, enter the report name.
    Notes:
    • The report name is the name in which you save the report.
    • The report title is the title of your report.
  4. Click Load All types to load all NLS supported types.
    Notes:
    • Select the Select NLS types and Attributes check box to display the NLS names of types and attributes.
    • Clear the Select NLS types and Attributes check box to show the internal names of types and attributes. In this case, the Load All Types button becomes unavailable.
  5. In the Type list, select the type of the object (for example, Molded Part).
  6. In the Attributes list, select an attribute (for example, Name), and click Add.
    The specified details are displayed in the Attribute Management area under the respective columns.
  7. Repeat the steps 5 and 6 by selecting Space Cell as the type and Name as the attribute, and click Add.
    The specified details are displayed in the Attribute Management area under the respective columns.
  8. Click Report Preview.
    The report is previewed showing all objects available in the session as per the specified type and attribute.
  9. Click Save.

Generate a Report

You can generate a report for the objects as defined in the Report Template Definition.

  1. Select Share > PLMExchangeExportMenu > Knowledge Report.
    The Report Generation dialog box appears.
  2. Click Select.
    The XML Document Chooser dialog box appears.
  3. Type the name of the template you created and click Search.
    The XML Document Chooser dialog box displays the result of the search.
  4. Double-click your report template in the XML Document Chooser dialog box.
    You are back in the Report Generation dialog box.
  5. Click Generate Report.
    The Molded Part and Space Cells Report dialog box appears.
  6. In the File Options area, select the appropriate check box to specify the report format.
    Note: You can generate the report in xml, html, xls, and txt formats.
  7. Click Open Report.
    The report appears.
  8. Click Save as to save the report.
