Using the Stretch View Analysis Tool

You use the Stretch View command to magnify a detail with different scaling by region selection.

This is especially useful if you want to examine precisely the curvature of an element from different viewpoints and with specific angles. This stretching is done according to a ratio between the Y and X axes (Y/X) with the screen as a reference.

Before you begin: Open an existing 3D shape.
  1. To launch the command, do one of the following:
    • Click Stretch View either from the View section in the action bar or from the action pad.
    • Press F9.
  2. Draw a rectangle around the region to be magnified.

Tip: Ctrl-drag to center the selection around the starting point.

The selected region is scaled in a way that it fits the complete screen width and height. The modified scale factor is indicated in the Stretch View dialog box.
  3. Click Reset to return to the normal view.
The scale factor is reset to 1,00.

If a stretch view is defined (scale factor unequal 1,00), the Stretch View icon is highlighted in the action bar and the action pad after closing the Stretch View dialog box.

If the Display Stretch option is selected in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Styling > Mechanical Surface Refinement, General tab, Display Stretch or not section, "Stretch" is displayed in the work area.
