Creating Reference Plane System

Table Editor lets you create, delete and modify individual reference planes, and plane groups of a reference plane system.

Table Editor lets you quickly modify reference plane system through direct input of required values in the respective column for reference plane or a plane group. The Reference Planes tab displays all reference planes for the selected plane system. The Plane Group tab displays plane groups classified according to their offset value. Changes done in one tab are reflected in another tab parallely.

Modifications done in the Table Editor are reflected in the work area and vice-versa. You can modify multiple items by selecting required rows and entering the required values.

Reference Planes Tab

The Reference Planes tab contains the columns namely, Index, Reference Planes, Short Name, Offset, Category, and Distance.

For individual reference planes, you can modify the following parameters:

  • Name of the reference plane
  • Short name
  • Offset value
  • Category
Notes:
  • The index number for the planes located on the negative side of the origin is negative.
  • The index number of origin is always 0.
  • The index number depends on the position of the plane in the plane set with respect to the origin.

The below filters are available in the Reference Planes tab:

  • Range filter: Sorts the rows based on a range of values. The input required for this mode is, start range - end range, both inclusive.
  • Text filter: Sorts the rows based on the text or value you have entered.
  • Step filter: Sorts the rows as per the defined step value. For example, if you enter 10, the rows displayed will be the 10th row from the first row in the column.
If the inputs of the filter do not match any values in the row, no result is displayed. When you hover over any column and click , the filter appears. The different filters available for each column are as follows:
  • Index: Step and range filters
  • Reference Planes: Step and text filters
  • Short Name: Text filter
  • Offset: Text filter
  • Category: Text filter
  • Distance: Range filter.
Click to delete the applied filter value.

In addition, you can align the name of plane, plane suffix, short name of plane, and short name suffix of the reference planes in accordance with the reference plane system. You can also add a reference plane above or below the selected row.

Plane Group Tab

The Plane Group tab contains the columns namely, Plane Group, Start, End, No of Planes, Spacing, From, and To.

For plane groups, you can modify the following parameters:

  • Number of planes in a plane group
  • Spacing between the reference planes.

You can identify the corresponding starting and ending reference plane for a plane group by moving the pointer over Start and End columns respectively. A tooltip appears displaying the name of a reference plane. The Plane Group column displays the plane group name, that includes the start and end plane name of a particular group.
