About Grid Visu Assistant

Grid Visu Assistant contains various options to modify the 3D grid of the current reference plane system.

The various options available are:

Manipulate
Modifies the 3D grid of the current reference plane system.
Show
Displays the 3D grid. By default, this option is cleared.
Important: You can only show the grid for the reference plane system set in Data Setup.
Label
Displays the labels of the 3D grid.
Important: You must set the labels to show for the required grid faces using the Manipulate option. The Label option only displays the label information that you have defined on each grid face. If you have not defined the labels on any grid face, the labels do not display any information even if the option is selected. By default, this option is selected.
Short name
Displays the short name of the labels of the 3D grid.
Warning: This option is available only when you select the Label option. By default, this option is cleared.
Global orientation
Displays the orientation on each face of the 3D grid.
The orientation follows the definition of the bounding box from the Space Referential app. If the representation does not have a bounding box in the same representation with the 3D grid, the global orientation is not retrieved. By default, this option is cleared.
Grid Snap
Snaps each 3D grid face on the reference planes.
  • When you select this option and manipulate the 3D grid face, the grid face is snapped to the nearest reference plane.
  • When you clear this option and manipulate the 3D grid face, an offset scale is available on the face to be snapped. You can manipulate the 3D grid with offset. While manipulating, the system calculates the offset from the closest plane.
    Important:
    • You can enter the required offset value. If the entered offset value is larger than the distance between two planes, the system finds the closet plane and calculates the offset.
    • You can manipulate planes with offset in the plane system and the bounding box. This helps you manipulate the grid faces out of plane systems with the bounding box. If the bounding box is smaller than the reference plane system, the last plane is the snapping limit.

By default, this option is selected.

Grid Line
Displays the 3D grid lines.
If this option is not selected, only the edges of each grid face are visible. By default, this option is selected.
When the Grid Line option is selected, you can specify the following two options to manage the visualization of grid lines:
  • Apply Plane Properties: Select this check box to apply properties of the planes to the corresponding grid lines.
  • Filter Based on Plane Category: Click Filter Based on Plane Category and select the categories of the planes. Grid lines are displayed for the planes of the selected categories only.

The list of categories is generated from the plane categories available in the current reference planes system.

By default, all categories are selected.

Note: The 3D grid options control the visualization of the 3D grid of the current reference plane system. Each 3D grid option is stored in the RFGSettings.CATPreferences. Even if you close the session after selecting and clearing certain options and restart the session, the options are applied as set in the previous session.
