Creating a Front View

You can create a front view of reference plane system using Generative View Style (GVS). These drawings are driven by .xml templates and control the appearance and behavior of a view.

Before you begin:
  • Select Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Systems > Drafting > Administration and clear the Disable generative view style usage check box.
  • Assign the drawing symbols and text template catalogs to the resources in the Common Geometry Resources table in the Data Setup.
  1. Open a reference plane system.
  2. From the Compass, click Drafting.
  3. From the View Layout section of the action bar, click Front View .
The Generative view style dialog box appears.
  4. Select the Space_Reference_System_GVS file from the list in the dialog box.
  5. Select the project data node in the tree and the projection plane in the tree or in the 3D area.
  6. Click anywhere on the sheet to generate the projection view.
The 2D view of the reference plane system is generated based on the parameters set in GVS.

Important:
  • If you are referring to the GVS file from previous release which does not include ArrowSymbol attributes, the generated drafting has the BlackFilledArrow_3x1.5 arrow symbol by default.
  • Same arrow symbols are available for the Space and Distance mode.
  • The generated drawing draws 2D lines for the planes. These lines are not associated to the 3D object.
