Displaying Clouds of Points or Meshes

You can take advantage of the specific display of meshes, or adapt the display of clouds of points or meshes to your needs.

This task shows you how to:

Highlight a Mesh

You can identify which mesh you are selecting, when working with open meshes.

  1. Place the cursor over an open mesh without selecting it.
Its free edges are automatically highlighted.
Note: This works only on open meshes, as closed meshes do not have free edges.
  2. Once you have highlighted the required mesh, click to select it.

Configuring Display Properties for Specific Cloud of Points or Mesh

You can change the display mode for specified clouds of points or meshes without configuring that display mode for the whole content you use in that app. These display modes include the amount of sampling done for clouds of points, the kinds of scans or grids displayed, the appearance of mesh, and the display of color. Specific Display Modes are the same modes that you can specify for all contents.

Before you begin: This command is available in 3D Printing and 3D Printing Preparation.
  1. Right-click any cloud of points in the tree and select Properties.
  2. Expand the Display Modes tab and select the required check boxes.

    Available options are:

    • For Point
      • Sampling
      • Colored
      • Symbol
      • Protected
    • For Scan or Grid
      • Segment
      • Point
      • Orientation
    • For Mesh
      • Vertex
      • Free Edges
      • Non-manifold Edges
      • Normal
      • Triangles
      • Shrink
      • Flat
      • Smooth

Each option behavior is described in Display Modes, with the difference that behaviors specified from an object Properties dialog box apply only to the cloud of points you have selected.
