Tessellating an Object

You can create a tessellation from surfaces or solids.


Before you begin: This command is available in 3D Printing Preparation and 3D Printing.

About Tessellating an Object
  1. From the 3D Printing section, click Tessellation .
  2. Select the surfaces to tessellate.
  3. Click Apply.
  4. Modify the Sag value, that is the maximum distance between the geometry and the triangles.
  5. Select the Step check box to control the length of triangles.
  6. Select an output option:
    • Distinct creates separate tessellations, i.e. one tessellation for each input element. The names of those tessellations contain the names of the input elements, e.g. Tessellation (Part1-Revolute.1).1.
    • Grouped creates one multi-cell tessellation, named Tesselation.x. The number of cells corresponds to the number of input elements.
