You can save modified data into a same revision (subject to access in the maturity state of the revision) or into a new revision. You cannot save a file as a revision that is not locked by you (not applicable for first save or save into a new revision). You can save the old data directly in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform without copying the data in the My Work folder. The files can be updated from their original location while a directory called Remote Files is created in the My Work folder. This directory replicates the structure of the original files. The Save dialog box appears when you right-click a file in MySession and select Save with Options. Also, you can select Save Active Window from the action bar in MySession to open this dialog box. The Save process goes through a sequence of steps: Copying files to local cache, Saving files locally, Extracting the file information, Generating Derived Outputs, Generating 3D for preview, Preparing Server Transcation, and Saving in a collaborative space. To visually know about the save process, a progress bar is displayed. This progress bar shows the step number, the name of the current step, its status, and the amount of time required. When you save data to the 3DEXPERIENCE server for the first time, it is not locked after it is saved. For data that already exists in 3DEXPERIENCE server, when you save it back with modifications into the same revision, you must lock such data before you save your modifications to the 3DEXPERIENCE server. If data is not locked, the Save dialog box displays Not Locked status for each unlocked file in the Status column. In the Save dialog box, all the files including virtual components are displayed. For distinction, the virtual component files are displayed in a gray color. The Status column for the Save dialog box, is empty for virtual components. You can also create a new revision of objects while saving data. You need not lock data or use modified data to create a new revision. If you have locked and modified the parent assembly, then you can create a new part revision in the context of the parent assembly. You can save SOLIDWORKS objects, with missing references, in 3DEXPERIENCE. A File Not Found warning is displayed in the Status column of the save dialog box and when you hover over the file, location of the missing reference is displayed. When you open a SOLIDWORKS object with missing reference file, a SOLIDWORKS dialog box is displayed asking you to locate or suppress the missing referenced files. Note:
You cannot save a SOLIDWORKS object with a missing reference file, when the
reference file is located outside My Work folder.
The SOLIDWORKS objects are automatically saved to My Work as required during the save operation. You can open objects from any folder in SOLIDWORKS and save them to 3DEXPERIENCE without having to manually save them to My Work folder first. When you edit a SOLIDWORKS object from Product Structure Editor in 3DDashboard, the 3DEXPERIENCE file of that object is updated with the modifications. But, the associated SOLIDWORKS file is updated when you open the object in SOLIDWORKS and save it into 3DEXPERIENCE. You can save modifications performed by following options:
Notes:
Asynchronous PDFs are generated for the drawings during the save operation, if that rule is created in Derived Format Management app. However, this is possible only if Derived Format Converter is installed. When you save drawings, corresponding UDL files are generated asynchronously and associated with the drawing. These files are used to display the drawing in 3DPlay or 3D Markup and the preview of the drawing in 3DSearch. You can generate UDL file for all the sheets of a multisheet drawing. While saving, UDL format is generated irrespective if the drawing is active or not active. On the cloud only: The exact geometry for UDL's is generated using a cloud
service.
On premises only: The exact geometry for UDL's is generated
using the Derived Format Converter. Also, the UDL format is
not available immediately after the save is complete.
On the cloud only: For SOLIDWORKS 2022SP1 and above versions, a cloud service is
deployed that generates CGR's asynchronously. This service is available through
interactive Save and Batch Save to
3DEXPERIENCE operations.
In SOLIDWORKS, you can exclude a component being displayed in the bill of materials using the Exclude from bill of materials option in the Component Properties dialog box. The selected component is not displayed in the Engineering Release application. To make the component visible, select the Show the xCAD's "Not In BOM" components option from the Preferences dialog box. |
