Permissions

To use Design with SOLIDWORKS, the Administrator must assign an organization, collaborative space, and a role. These credentials control your access to the content on the server and the operations you can perform on files and folders.

The Administrator can assign you multiple credentials. For example, the Administrator may assign you as an Owner in one collaborative space and organization, and as an Author in another collaborative space in the same organization. Each of these assigned credentials give you different privileges in the assigned collaborative spaces and organizations. The combination of organization, collaborative space, and role that is assigned to you is your assigned credential. The credential that you use to log in is your active credential. Thus, the Administrator can assign you multiple credentials, but only one can be active.

To determine if you can access an object, the system matches each user's credential to the credential for the object.
