Save Dialog Box

You can save the files to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform using the Save Active Window and Save as New commands available in the action bar of the MySession. Also, you can save the files using the Save, Save with Options, and Save as New commands available on the context menu of an object.

This page discusses:

The Save dialog box lists the files that you have selected for the save operation. When a file is locked by another user, you cannot save that file in a revision. (This is not applicable for first save or save as new revision.)

You can save the data even if the CGR generation process is not completed. The Save is enabled immediately if all the conditions for save are satisfied. The progress bar shows the save progress while the CGR generation continues in the background.

File Name File name on local disk.
SWTitle The title name of the object that is added using the Rename command of SOLIDWORKS Desktop. If the display name is not added, the file name is used a display name.
Save Select this check box to save the object.
Status The status of an object can be one of the following. Based on the status, the save operation is enabled or disabled.

  • Warning/ Error: Based on one of the following warning or error status of a file, the save operation progresses.
    • Wrong Attribute Value: This warning appears when the values of the SOLIDWORKS properties do not match with the attribute definition on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. On clicking the warning, complete issue description is visible.
Note: If you save with warnings, the uncompliant SOLIDWORKS properties are not propagated to the server.
    • File title already exists in 3DEXPERIENCE platform: The file title is not unique and renaming is required. This warning appears if the Check file Title for uniqueness option is chosen on the Settings page of the Platform Management widget.
    • File Not Found: Corresponding product structure is missing reference files.
    • Unsupported reference type: Corresponding product structure contains 3D interconnect reference files.
    • The file name has unsupported trailing space characters: Corresponding product structure contains spaces at the end of the file name.
    • File to save has been concurrently modified: Corresponding product structure contains a file that is not the latest version available in the database and is modified by the other user.
    • Local file is not the latest version: Corresponding product structure contains a file that is not saved in 3DEXPERIENCE and is not the latest version available in the database.
    • Not Locked: Corresponding product structure contains a file that is not locked. You can use the Lock command to lock the file.
    • The file is locked by another user: Corresponding product structure contains files that are locked by the other user.
    • Reference Changed: This status is displayed for a product structure in which the derived object has a base object that is not saved in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and is not the latest version. Here, the base object has status as Local file is not the latest version and the derived object has status as Reference Changed.
Note: This is applicable for other object types also.
    • Modified but not locked: Changes will not be propagated to the server.

Based on the option selected for the Mandatory Mapped Attributes option, the status column displays the following statuses:

Bookmark Displays the bookmark assigned to the respective object. The Bookmark column is empty in one of the following cases:
  • If the object is not saved in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  • If a new revision of the object is chosen in the Save dialog box.
  • A bookmark is not assigned.
The display style of tooltips varies according to the bookmark classification:
  • If a bookmark is already classified, the column, and the tooltip is shown in regular text.
  • If multiple bookmarks are already classified, the bookmarks are listed in alphabetical order in the tooltip, and in regular text. The bookmark listed first, has three dots appended to the name. For example, bookmark1....
  • If a new bookmark is assigned for an object without existing bookmarks, the column and the tooltip shows the bookmark in bold text.
