Delete

You can delete a part, assembly, or entire configuration using the delete command. This command is accessible from the Lifecycle tab of Product Structure Editor. You can delete a single item or use multiselect to delete multiple items.

For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Dashboard Apps | Lifecycele | Deleting Content.

This page discusses:

Deleting a CAD Family

When you delete the active configuration item of a CAD family, a new active configuration item is set to this family. This new configuration item is randomly chosen. When you delete the unique item of a family, then the family is also deleted.

In case of multiselection, the deletion of all the items of a family deletes the entire family.

Deleting Virtual Component

You can delete a virtual component only by selecting the configuration item that references it. If an assembly contains multiple configurations, the deletion of the virtual component is possible when there is no configuration item that references it.

Deleting Configurations from 3DDashboard

When a configuration of a SOLIDWORKS a part or an assembly is deleted from 3DDashboard, the 3DEXPERIENCE model is modified and the associated SOLIDWORKS file is not updated. In SOLIDWORKS Desktop, when the file is opened or Reloaded from Server, the deleted configurations are deleted from the SOLIDWORKS part or assembly, and the file is updated in the 3DEXPERIENCE at the next Save in 3DEXPERIENCE.

On deleting a configuration from the 3DDashboard,

  • When you open the CAD family of the deleted configuration, in MySession the configuration appears as Modified by Synchronization. If an active configuration is deleted, then the family randomly selects another configuration.
  • For Reload from Server command, an error message is displayed but the part family or assembly family appears as Modified by Synchronization.
