Replacing a Revision

You can replace one revision in a session with another revision that exists in the 3DEXPERIENCE server.

Before you begin: Ensure that you have SOLIDWORKS objects (part, assembly, drawing) in 3DEXPERIENCE.

  1. Select the data in the MySession widget.
  2. To get a list of revisions for the data that you have selected, do one of the following:
    • Click Replace by Revision in the Lifecycle section of the action bar.
    • Right-click the object and select Replace by Revision.

    The Replace by Revision dialog box displays the columns of the Revision History dialog box. This dialog box provides the capability to see the graph view with branches, an ability to refresh information, and an option to customize the visibility of the columns. The Replace by Revision dialog box lists the revisions that you can select to replace the revision open in session.

    The dialog box displays all existing revisions for a selected object allowing you to replace the current revision with any branch revision opened in session. In the revision list, current revision is displayed blurred.

    The below table explains the default columns that are displayed in the Replace by Revision dialog box:

    Column Description
    Graph The revision graph for the object, showing the lifecycle links between the objects.
    Title The title of the object.
    Revision The revision identifier of the object.
    Maturity State The maturity state of the object.
    Creation Date The object creation date.
    Modification Date The date on which the object was modified.
    Description The detailed description of the object.

    Command Name Description
    Settings Displays two options:
    • Use Compact Display: This option reduces the spaces between the lines so that more information is visible.
    • Select Columns to Display: This option enables you to add or remove the columns from the dialog box.
    Help Opens the help file for the dialog box.
    Refresh Refreshes the information to display the updated details.
    Views To switch between graph view and graph list view , click the current view icon and select the view of your choice.

  3. From the list, select only one revision.

    Notes:
    • When a selected revision does not have other revisions, only the current revision is displayed.
    • In a structure if a child has reference to external reference and is replaced by another revision, the revision of its parent is not replaced, and no warning message is displayed.
    • When there is only one revision for the selected data, OK is disabled.
    • For data that is not saved in 3DEXPERIENCE, or in case of multiselection appropriate messages are displayed.

  4. Click OK.
    New revision replaces the previous revision of the selected object.
