Locking Data

You can lock data to prevent other users from using the same file for modification at the same time. This helps to avoid concurrent changes. To lock data using the MySession widget, it must be present in the My Work folder and also in the 3DEXPERIENCE server.

This task shows you how to:

Lock from the Action Bar

  1. Open My Session widget from the SOLIDWORKS Side Panel.
The MySession widget lists the files open in SOLIDWORKS session.
  2. Select an object.
  3. From the action bar, click the Lifecycle tab.
  4. Click Lock.
    The object is locked.

Lock from the Right-Click Menu

  1. Open My Session widget from the SOLIDWORKS Side Panel.
The MySession widget lists the files open in the SOLIDWORKS session.
  2. Right-click an object and select Lock.
    The object is locked.

When you lock a family, the family and all its configurations are locked. When you lock any configuration from a family, the configuration, the family, and all other configurations are locked.

Note: If a file is already locked, a message appears stating that one or more selected objects are already locked. Only files that exist in the 3DEXPERIENCE server can be locked.
