Connecting to 3DEXPERIENCE platform from SOLIDWORKS

You can connect to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform using the Design with SOLIDWORKS. The Design with SOLIDWORKS allows you to search, open, edit, create, save, and delete SOLIDWORKS files in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. When connecting to a 3DEXPERIENCE platform for the first time using SOLIDWORKS, click the Design with SOLIDWORKS app from the Compass.

Before you begin: Ensure that you know:
  • Your username and password.
  • The credential for your login. The credential includes your role, organization, and collaborative space.
  1. To connect to 3DEXPERIENCE platform from SOLIDWORKS, click the Design with SOLIDWORKS app from the Compass.

On premises only: Enter your User name and Password and click Login, when you log in using the Connect menu from the MySession widget.

  2. In the Select Credentials dialog box, select your Organization, Collaborative Space, Role, and Country.

Note: The Country option is available when you log into 3DEXPERIENCE, and when your Administrator has installed both ENOVIAIPControlledAccessFoundation and ENOVIAIPProtectionClassificationFoundation.

  3. Click OK.

For subsequent logins you can use the above steps or do one of the following:

    • On premises only: Start SOLIDWORKS using the SOLIDWORKS shortcut created by Windows and use the Connect menu from the MySession widget to connect to the server. Specify your login credentials to connect Design with SOLIDWORKS to the 3DEXPERIENCE server.
    • Create 3DEXPERIENCE shortcut for Design with SOLIDWORKS on desktop and start SOLIDWORKS using this shortcut. Specify your login credentials to connect with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

SOLIDWORKS starts and Design with SOLIDWORKS connects to the 3DEXPERIENCE server. The notification area of the task bar displays the 3DEXPERIENCE icon when you are connected. When you right-click the icon, you have two options:

    • Exit 3DEXPERIENCE PLM Services: Closes the application.
    • My Credentials: The My Credentials dialog box opens, which displays the information about the tenant you are connected to, the collaborative space title, the organization name, and the role assigned.

The 3DEXPERIENCE icon also appears on the 3DEXPERIENCE tab of the task pane.
