Working with the Toolbox Components

You can integrate and use the SOLIDWORKS toolbox components in 3DEXPERIENCE. These components are imported in 3DSpace and are available to all the users of the same collaborative space.

This task shows you how to:

Integrating Toolbox Components in 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

You can use the toolbox components and save the assemblies that refer the toolbox components in 3DEXPERIENCE. Even if the other users have not installed toolbox, they can use these components without any duplication from any SOLIDWORKS Desktop client.

Before you begin: You must have logged in to a common collaborative space.

Context: The components are available to the users, because the following predefined settings done in SOLIDWORKS.

  1. Navigate to the Hole Wizard/ Toolbox > User Settings dialog box.
  2. Create Parts option is selected by default.

Note: In Design with SOLIDWORKS, Create Configurations and Create Parts on Ctrl-Drag options are available. Do not choose options.

The location where the parts are created is specified in the Create parts in this folder field.

Note: Do not change the path settings in this field.

Important: In SOLIDWORKS Connected, only Create Parts option is available.

For each toolbox component, an individual physical product is created and saved in a collaborative space. The toolbox physical products are in Released maturity state.

Saving the Existing Toolbox Components

You can save the existing toolbox components in 3DEXPERIENCE.

  1. Open an assembly that has reference to existing toolbox components.

    • If you open the assembly without being connected to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the Status column in MySession displays for the toolbox component.
    • If you are connected to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the Status column displays for the toolbox component.

When you open existing assemblies that have reference to the Toolbox components, the Create Parts option is activated irrespective of the earlier settings. All these Toolbox components are retrieved or created in the directory specified to generate the Toolbox parts.

  2. Click Save.

All the toolbox components are available in 3DSpace and are in Released state with Common Space as the collaborative space.

Saving New Toolbox Components

You can create new toolbox components and save them in 3DEXPERIENCE.

When you use the Add-In command to insert new toolbox components, a new SLDPRT is created.

The component is available in 3DSpace and is in Released state with Common Space as the collaborative space.
