Creating a Ruled Surface

You can create Ruled Surfaces from an existing surface of a model. The Ruled Surfaces are the surfaces that extend out in a specific direction from the selected edges. You can also use the Ruled Surface feature on the Feature section of the action bar.


Before you begin: Generate a model from 2D Sketch and open it in the work area.
  1. From the Surfaces section of the action bar, click Ruled Surface .
  2. Select the edges of a model in the work area.
    The selection appears in the Ruled Surface dialog box.
  3. Specify a value in the Distance filed. Alternatively, you can drag an arrow in the work area.
  4. Click or double-clip the arrow to flip the direction of Distance.
  5. Under Direction, select the linear or planer direction from the work area.
  6. Specify a value in the Angle field. Alternatively, you can drag the arrow inside the circular shape in the work area. Double-click the angle arrow to reverse the angle direction.


  7. Under Advanced, from the Corner treatment list, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Open Corners. The resulting surface has open corners.
    Round Corners. The resulting surface has round corners.
    Sharp Corners. The resulting surface has sharp corners.
    Linear Corners. The resulting surface has linear corners.
  8. Select Tangent propagation to extend the selection up to the edges that are tangent to the selected edge.
