Thickness Analysis

You can analyse the thickness of the walls in a body.

  1. In the work area, select the bodies you want to analyse for thickness.
  2. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Thickness Analysis .
  3. In the Thickness Analysis dialog box, click the following:
    OptionDescription
Input Specifies the items to analyse thickness.
Colors Specifies color settings for the thickness analysis.
  4. Input displays the following options:
    OptionDescription
Bodies Specifies the bodies to perform the thickness analysis on.
Method Specifies the type of method for thickness analysis.

    1. Sphere: Defines the thickness of the body at a given point. This gives the thickness value, as the diameter of the largest sphere that can be included inside the part at this point.
    2. Ray: Define the thickness of the body at a given point, of a ray that starts at the considered point, is oriented along the normal to the solid boundary and that points inside the material.

Tolerance Specifies the accuracy for the thickness analysis of the part.
  5. The Colors tab displays the following options.

The Autoscale is selected by default. The Range is read-only and Display selected is Smooth.

    OptionDescription
Number of Colors Specify the number of colors to display the range of thickness.
Display Displays the analysis in smooth and discrete values.
    1. Smooth: Displays interpolated thickness values.
    2. Discrete: Displays calculated thickness values.
Millimeter, Centimeter, Meter, Kilometer, Inch, Foot, Yard, and Mile.
Autoscale Scales the range evenly between the minimum and maximum thicknesses of the selected bodies.
Colors You can choose the colors for the selected range of thickness from the color palette. To change the color, double-click the color to open the color palette.
  6. Click Run to start and display the analysis.
  7. Click to close the displayed analysis and the Thickness Analysis dialog box.
