Unlocking Components

Consider the following conditions when working with components:

  • After making a new component, you need to save it first to view or change its lock status.
  • There is no auto lock mechanism for physical product or 3D shape. You have to use the Lock command from the action bar or context toolbar to lock it.
  • In the collaborative environment, you can open and edit the component locked by another user but you cannot save it.
  • If multiple users are working on the same component, and you open the component, you are prompted to Update the component if it is not up-to-date with the latest changes.
  • After you update the component, you can lock it.
  • If you open an up-to-date component, locking it prevents other users from making edits that can conflict with your changes.

You can check the lock status of a component from the context toolbar. For more information, see Context toolbars. Use the following options from the context toolbar to change the lock state.
