Editing Ellipses

You can edit an ellipse to change the size and orientation by using control points, axes, the center point, and the elliptical curve.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Sketch an ellipse.

Split an Ellipse

You can split a closed ellipse into the segments. You can split an elliptical curve and axes.

  1. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click Split Entity .
  2. Hover over the curve or an axis of an ellipse.
  3. Click where you want to split.

    The entity is split in two segments.

Trim an Ellipse

You can trim an elliptical curve or an axis.

  1. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click Trim or Extend.
  2. Hover over the curve or an axis of an ellipse and click to remove the segment.
    After trimming all the axes, the center point and control points remains visible.

Resize, Rotate, and Move an Ellipse

  1. Click an elliptical curve along any one of the control points and drag to resize.

  2. Do one of the following to move an ellipse.

    • Select and drag the center point
    • Select and drag any of the axes.

    Notes: This is applicable for ellipses having vertical and horizontal constraints.

  3. Click a center point and rotate an ellipse clockwise or counterclockwise.
