Creating a Rectangular Pattern

You can create a rectangular pattern of a feature or an existing body.

  1. From the Sheet Metal section of the action bar, click Rectangular pattern .
  2. In the Rectangular pattern dialog box, click Object and from the work area, select an object to pattern.
  3. Under First direction, click Reference, and from the work area, select a reference to create a pattern along that direction.
  4. From the Parameters list, select one of the following:

    Instances & Length The spacing between instances depends up on the number of instances and the total length.
    Instances & Spacing The total length depends up on the number of instances and the spacing value.
    Spacing & Length The number of instances is automatically computed to fit the other two parameters.
  5. Specify the number of Instances to create.
  6. Specify a value in Spacing to define the space between the instances.
  7. Specify a value in Length to define the length between the instances.
  8. Click Position to symmetrically place the odd instances.
  9. Click to reverse the direction pattern creation.
  10. Under Second Direction, click Reference, and from the work area, select a reference to create a pattern along the second direction.
  11. From the Parameters list, select the option.
  12. Specify the values for Instances, Spacing, Length, Rotation angle, Position, and direction for pattern creation.

    The Rotation angle option is available for circular features.

    Click to copy the number of instances from First Direction.

  13. Click to save and exit.
    Note: You can use equations for all numeric parameters. Click the dimension text. The dimension text becomes editable. Type = in the input field, to open the Equation dialog box and enter a formula or number. For more information, see Equations.
