Dialog Box Elements

Dialog boxes are comprised of title bars, selection buttons and lists, and other options that depend on the command and on your selections.

Dialog boxes might include the following dialog box elements:

Title Bar Displays the command name. For example, Thread or Chamfer.
Buttons OK Accepts the selections, executes the command, and closes the dialog box.
Cancel Ignores any selections and close the dialog box.
Create Incomplete Feature Lets you create the feature without selecting all of the required geometry.
Note: In certain workflows, a dialog box does not have an OK or Cancel button. For example, you can select a closed sketch and drag the handle to extrude the sketch, and set the options. Clicking in the work area completes the extrusion. Also, quick edit does not include the buttons in the dialog box.
Options Provide related buttons that modify the active command. For example, Angle Distance or Reverse Direction in the Chamfer dialog box. You can select or clear the options, as required.
Note: Some options are mutually exclusive, so selecting one option clears the other.
Selection List Displays items you select in the work area to apply the command. For example, Face 1, Edge 2, or X-Axis. When a selection list field is selected, you can select relevant geometry.
Numeric Input Field Lets you type or select a numeric value, for example, thread Height. With the numeric field selected, you can enter a value or use the spin box to modify the value.
