Locking Components

In a collaborative environment, you can lock a physical product or geometry that you are working on to prevent others from making changes to it.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Open a physical product.

Lock Objects from Action Bar

  1. From the Standard section of the action bar, click Save to save the component in the work area.
  2. From the Design Manager, select any of the following objects:

    • One or more physical products
    • One or more 3D Shapes

  3. From the Lifecycle section of the action bar, click Lock .
    The selected object becomes locked by you and restricts other users from saving changes to it.

Lock Objects from Context Toolbar

  1. From the Standard section of the action bar, click Save to save the component in the work area.
  2. From the Design Manager, select any of the following objects:

    • One or more physical products
    • One or more 3D Shapes

  3. From the tree, right-click the object and from the context toolbar, click Lock to lock a physical product and Lock to lock a geometry of the physical product.
    The selected object becomes locked by you and restricts other users from saving changes to it.
    Note: If there is no selection or the selection is invalid, the root physical product is locked.
