Sketching Circles

You can use various commands to sketch circles. You can select a command based on the points used to define the circle.

This task shows you how to:

Sketch a Center Circle

You can sketch a circle defined by its center and a point on its circumference.

  1. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click Center Circle .
  2. Click in the work area to place the center and circumference point.

Tip: To sketch another circle of the same diameter, click in the work area and drag until the circumference of the new circle highlights in blue.
  3. Optional: To sketch a circle having the same diameter as of any existing circle in the work area:
    1. From the sketch section of the action bar, click Center Circle .
    2. Click in the work area to place the center of a new circle.
    3. Drag the circle until you hover over the edge or arc of an existing circle in the work area.
A dotted red circle having same diameter as of an existing circle appears.
    4. Drag the active circle up to the dotted red circle.
    5. Click to set an Equal constraint between the new circle and the existing circle.

Sketch a Three Point Circle

You can sketch a circle defined by three points on its circumference.

  1. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click Three Point Circle .
  2. In the 3D area, click to place the first, second, and third circumference points.

  3. Optional: To sketch another three point circle of the same diameter,
    1. Click in the work area to place first and second circumference points.

Note: The diameter between first and second point must be less than the diameter of an existing circle.

    2. Drag the new circle toward an existing circle until their edges meet.
As soon as the edges of the two circles meet, a red dotted red circle appears and an existing circle is highlighted in blue. If while dragging, if both the circles are highlighted in blue, then the new circle has reached the same diameter as of the existing circle.
    3. Drag the active circle up to the dotted red circle.
    4. Click to place the third point circumference point.
An Equal constraint is set between the new circle and the existing circle.
