Mirroring Sketch Entities

You can mirror sketch entities and sketch objects within an active sketch.

Before you begin:
  • Create the sketch entities and sketch objects to mirror.
  • Create a line, construction line, plane, face, or linear model edge to mirror about.

  1. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click Sketch Mirror .
  2. In the dialog box:
    1. For Mirror Line/plane: In the 3D area, select a line, construction line, plane, face, or linear model edge to mirror about.

Tip: If the sketch contains a single construction line, that line is selected automatically.

    2. For Eities to mirror: In the 3D area, select the sketch entities and sketch objects to mirror.
    A preview appears.

  3. Click .
The selected items are mirrored and symmetry constraints are added.

  4. To see the constraints:
    1. Select the reflection line.
The symmetry icon indicates the reflection line.

    2. Select the symmetry icon .
More icons indicate the mirrored entities.

Tip: You can mirror about a construction line directly from the context toolbar (without using a dialog box). Ctrl + select the construction line and the entities to mirror. Then, on the context toolbar, click .
Note: If you selected something on a body to use as the sketch mirror, then move that body, the mirrored sketch is not repositioned if the body was created after the sketch. To reposition the mirrored sketch based on the new location of that body, use the Reorder feature in the tree to move the feature before the sketch. This updates the mirrored sketch entity's location.
