Working with Content from 3DSpace and 3DDrive

You can access physical products or CAD family objects from 3DSpace or files from 3DDrive, open it in your 3DDashboard app, do the modification and save it.

3DSpace lets you create and manage collaborative spaces that are dedicated to content storage and collaboration on content. 3DDrive lets you securely store, access, and share files online from any device and any computer.

This task shows you how to:

Working with Content from 3DSpace

  1. Open 3DSpace from the Compass.
  2. In 3DSpace, open the required collaborative space and select the required content.
  3. From the Compass, click the 3DDashboard app you need to work on.

    The selected content from 3DSpace opens in the 3DDashboard app.

    Note: You can also do one of the following:
    • Drag the content from 3DSpace to your app, see Opening Content Using Drag and Drop.
    • Open content from 3DSpace in your app, see Opening Components.
    • If the selected content in 3DSpace is compatible with your app, the Open With command in the context toolbar lets you open it in the app.

  4. Do the required modifications or add new features to the content.
  5. Save the content.

    The changes get reflected in 3DSpace.

Working with Files from 3DDrive

  1. Open 3DDrive from the Compass.

    You can also select Content from the top bar to open 3DDrive.

  2. In 3DDrive, search for the file required, and select the file.

    You can refine the search results using 6WTags. See Social and Collaborative | 3D for all & Social Collaboration | 3DDrive | Searching for Content.

  3. Drag the selected file from 3DDrive to your app.

    The file opens in the 3DDashboard app.

    Note: File types such as 3DXML, STL etc. stored in 3DDrive can be dragged in from 3DDrive to your app.

    If the selected file in 3DDrive is compatible with your app, the Open With command in the context toolbar of the file lets you open it in the app.
