Creating Datum Targets

You can create a datum target on a datum element in a 3D view or directly on a model. You can add area size and datum to the components to add it as a reference.

If you add annotations directly on a model that do not have 3D views, the annotations are inserted in a 3D view by default(isometric view).

Before you begin:

Open or import a model in the app.

  1. Activate a 3D View from the Manager panel.
  2. From the action bar, select Annotation> Datum Target .
  3. Select the component for which the datum target needs to be created.
  4. Click in the work area to place the datum target.
  5. In the Datum target dialog box, choose Area of contact.
  6. Enter the area size and the associated datum.
  7. Select the balloon type.
  8. Click Apply and repeat.
The datum target is created on the selected component. The dialog box remains open. You can create multiple datum targets at once. Click to save changes and close the dialog box.

You can move and change the position of the datum target and can also rotate it.

You can edit the datum target using the context toolbar.

The created datum target is displayed under the selected view in the tree.
